For most of our clients this is their first time planning a large celebration, so if you are feeling unsure of how this works, you are not alone.

Start by filling out our contact form if you are planning a wedding, or emailing us directly for all other events. Once we have received your inquiry, if your date is available we will schedule a time to talk over the phone to go over the finer points of your event and to get a feel for your personality. After that, we can provide a detailed proposal that outlines designs and costs. If you feel comfortable with us and the proposal, a signed contract and security deposit are required to hold the date.

We generally only handle one client per weekend, so once you book us, you have our attention.

Some frequently asked questions are:

What is a squill?

It’s a plant in the lily family. The variety we are referring to is maritime squill, which grows in similar areas as fig trees.

Do you deliver gift/occasion arrangements in Rhode Island?

No; since we are a private studio and not a retail space, we don’t keep a regular inventory of flowers.

Do you work outside of the Newport area?

We do! We love working all over Rhode Island, not just historic Newport. We also enjoy working along the south coast of Massachusetts and in northern Connecticut.

Other than flowers, what else do you provide for events?

We have a large selection of vases for tabletop designs, urns and other larger containers for statement pieces, and candlelight options from votives to hurricanes to lanterns all ranging in styles from modern to traditional. We have a variety of arches and chuppahs for ceremony, and can make anything we don’t already have. We have made upholstered folding screens for escort card displays, custom throw pillows for lounge seating, hand-painted nautical flags for overhead installations, and custom murals for band backdrops. We are game for anything creative and realize that flowers aren’t always the answer.

Can we make changes to our proposal after we book you?

Yes! We never expect our clients to have all of the details sorted out when we first talk, so changes to the design and revisions to your proposal along the way are a given part of the process.

Do you have packages or minimums?

Everything we do is custom and based on the client’s style, the venue, and season. We do not have package deals and we do not have starting minimums, but we do have high standards that we hold ourselves to, ensuring we are proud of the finished design.

What kind of investment can we expect to make with Fig & Squill?

Again, everything is custom and averages are deceiving, but in general, our clients tend to land between the $6k-$30K range, depending on needs and expectations. Keep in mind delivery, set-up, and break-down fees and sales tax when you are thinking of your budget - it isn’t the pure cost of goods, it is also service and experience.
